MELAA MEIN JHAMELAA

(SCREWED UP IN THE FAIR)

Home sweet home. Yet so many people do not want to stay home. Is it not funny how people crave for a home and then when they have one they flee from it? The authorities are having to enforce ‘house arrests’. When we know that danger is out there, why cannot we stay home? Satguru Kabir Saheb has taught us to stay away from the mess. He has taught us to detach ourselves from jhamelaa, from that which is the cause of our suffering and continued bondage.

“Ur jaayegaa Hans akelaa, jag darshan kaa melaa”

We like to say and repeat the words of Saints and Sages, especially when we know how philosophically true they are. We came alone and we will go alone. We go to the extent of impressing others by professing such philosophies. What happens between the coming and going? In between we screw up in the fair (world). We allow ourselves to be carried away in the hustle bustle. Satguru Kabir Saheb wants us to understand our existence (akelaa) in contrast with our abode (melaa). Is our true abode this world (melaa)? Confinement is for us to reflect on where we really belong to.

“Jaise paat gire taruvar se, milnaa bahut duhelaa”

If we do not value our connection (with God), we fall off...and are lost again in the fair. The leaf which fell off the branch cannot re-attach to it, let alone get back to the tree trunk. Our good fortune led us to be in that network where we can tune in to His channel. But if we do not tune in, then we get caught up in the ocean where there is no network. We have to again make our way, swim and swim and swim to get back to the network. Should we let such an opportunity go?

“Jam ke doot bare mazboot, jam se paraa jhamelaa”

When your time is up, will you be able to face Yamraaj? His angels are very strong, can you mess up with him? If all the time during our lifetime we have given in to orders (desires), we have obeyed the command of others (senses), we will be helpless in front of Yamraaj. He will easily grab us and send us where we will again attempt at fulfilling our unfulfilled desires. And the jhamelaa continues. Satguru Kabir Saheb guides us towards disentanglement. The choice is ours if we want to get entangled with Yamraaj.

“Guru ki karni Guru jaayegaa, chelaa ki karni chelaa”

We are responsible for our own actions. We cannot blame the Guru if we fail. Singing the praises of God and attaching ourselves to Him is what we should do to remain detached from the world. Just like the virus will not get to us if we stay home, just so we will remain protected from Yamraaj if we stay with God in our hearts.

You are not alone; God is always with you. Experience His presence.
