I Can’t Wait!

I Can’t Wait!

I CAN’T WAIT

I can’t wait to be 18; I can’t wait to get that job; I can’t wait to go on my vacation; I can’t wait to be retired; I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait…. Think about it : how many times we just can’t wait for something to happen, and then when it has happened we wish it did not happen. Or that it happened so fast. Or that the moment we were so excited about went by so fast. Is it not strange that the same thing that makes us so excited suddenly dulls our life. Imagine that person who was so looking forward to his retirement, and after he retires he realises how old he is, how he cannot do much now, how he gets bored easily, and starts to hate his life.

“Man re tou dhiraj kyun naa dhare”

Why are you so impatient? Things will happen in their own time. You cannot rush them to happen. Instead of being impatient, enjoy the present moment. What is the point of getting frustrated over things we do not have control over. At this particular time, we can live the
present moment. That is, we do what we have to do in the present moment : stay home, practise social distancing, observe all sanitary protocols….but most of all be with our own self.  We used to say “Oh, I don’t have time”. God has listened to us. He has given us plenty of time.

“Hon haar so hot jagat mein, chintaa kaahe kare re”

Whatever is to happen in the world will happen - why worry? Remember, we cannot play with the Law of Karma. We cannot change our past bad or good deeds. We have to bear the result of our past deeds - no matter what. But what is in our control now is that we can perform good actions. There are two things that people do wrong : Having expectations and comparing with others. Having expectations because you think you deserve good results is wrong. The Law of Karma operates independently from your expectations. Why compare with others? Each one of us is responsible for their own actions.

“Toum toh hansaa wahi Saheb ke, bhatkat kaahe phire”

Who are you? You are that soul which is part of the Supreme Soul. Why are you wandering aimlessly? If you find the right path, you will get back to where you belong. Impatience to experience worldly pleasures makes you miss the real experience. Your life’s mission will not be fulfilled if you allow yourself to be carried away in the world. Be with your Satguru - He is your only saviour.

“Samujh dekh man, koyi nahin apnaa”

Clear your doubts! All the relationships you have built in your lifetime - parent, child, brother, sister, friend, relative - are just transitory. You needed them as companions for your journey.  They will not be with you for ever. Your only connection, which has always been with you, is your connection with God. Realise this now.

“Sant ki saran gaho more man - sahaje jiv tare”

Accept the refuge of Saints; you will easily get liberated. The only gateway to liberation is the company of Saints.  Do not let what is happening in the world disappoint you. None of what is happening can affect your true Self. Be patient, and persevere in your spiritual path. Nothing, absolutely nothing can stop you from reaching your destination if you are on the right path.
