THE ROAD TO HEAVEN

One disciple asked his Guruji right in the middle of satsang : “Guruji, how can one get to heaven?” Guruji told him to come see him after satsang and after having mahaprasad. So, after he had mahaprasad, he went to see Guruji.

Guruji : How was mahaprasad?
Disciple : Very nice Guruji, Very delicious
Guruji : So, you wanted to know how you can get to heaven?
Disciple : Yes, Guruji
Guruji : Why do you want to go to heaven?
Disciple : Because I heard that you get everything you want there. Nice delicacies, nice bed,
nice clothes…
Guruji : And how about in the ashram?
Disciple : Everything is very nice in the ashram too Guruji.
Guruji : So, what is it that you lack in the ashram?
Disciple : Nothing Guruji

“Chalan chalan sab koye kahat hai, naa jaano baikunth kahaan hai”
Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one knows where heaven is.

What is that heaven people talk about? Is it somewhere above, in the skies? Why are people so eager to go there? The grass is greener there? Satguru Kabir Saheb clears the myth for us. It is all in our minds. People create heaven in their minds, decking it with all the things that they think will bring them happiness, nothing but happiness. And then, they develop a longing to go there.

“Jo jan ek pramiti nahin jaane, batni hi baikunth bakhaane”
Those people who do not know a single thing about the path blabber a lot about the destination.

People create that longing, that hope, that desire to be in heaven. Desires are endless. First he wants a nice house, then a nice car, then a nice wife, then nice children, then nice grandchildren….then, as if all of these were not enough, a nice or the nicest spot in heaven.

“Jab lag hai baikunth ki aashaa, tab lag nahin Hari charan nivaasaa”

Do you want to be in heaven? And then what? What will you want after that? As long as you are stuck in your mind with your desire to be in heaven you will never be able to realise God, be with God. God is waiting for you to be with Him; yet you are still planning to fulfil your desire to be in heaven.

“Kahein soone kaise patiaaye jab lag tahaan aap nahin jaaye”
Do you think that just by listening and talking about it you will be there?
How will you know you reached heaven?

Unless you experience heavenly experience, you will not know it. Don’t be like the dreamer who wants to be a billionaire, and keeps dreaming of all the luxuries he will have when he becomes one.

“Kahein Kabir yahu kahiye kahi, saadh sangati baikunthahi ahi”

Stop listening to those who do not know about heaven. Heaven is realised by being in the company of saints. Spend your time with saintly people, you will experience heaven. Satguru Kabir Saheb exhorts us to realise the true experience of heaven...not be in illusion. Heaven is within your reach, stop dreaming.
