THE LOST CITY

We loved it whenever we heard that this video or that chat has gone viral.  We so much loved the word viral. Not any more….. not any more in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.  Satguru Kabir Saheb has been teaching us and warning us again and again to beware…..to beware because a thief will come some day and rob us.

“Hoshiyaar rehnaa re nagar mein ek din chor aawegaa”
Be alert in your City! One day the thief will come.

Why does Satguru Kabir Saheb asks us to be alert in our City? Because He knows that many of us, if not most of us have lost control over our cities. Interestingly, that thief is very cunning, and takes advantage of that. The thief comes slyly and breaks in in our City.

“Top teer talwaar naa barchi, nahin bandook chalaawegaa”
He does not need the cannon or the bow and arrow or the sword or the spear or guns or any other weapons.

You won’t even see him coming. So sagacious is this thief that he makes himself invisible. You will plead with him, beg him, yet he will not listen to any of your appeals.

“Nahin faryaad soonegaa teri, tujhe na koyi bachaawegaa”
No one will come to your help - you will be all by yourself. You will be so helpless that you will lose your City. Your City will be useless….to you and even to the thief. He does not need your City; he needs YOU.

“Nagri se kucch kaam nahin hai, tujhe pakkar le jaawegaa”
The thief has not come to loot your City - he knows you lost control over it. The forts of your City are so weak….that’s why he can easily grab you.

Satguru Kabir Saheb has taught us to surrender ourselves to our Guru who is the only one who can save us from this thief. The gateway to the Eternal Abode can only be accessed if we submit ourselves totally and unconditionally to the Master.

“Hai koyi Sant viveki Hari gun aaye soonaawegaa”

But most people have taken pride in their cities, thinking they can save themselves. Others have gone the wrong way, submitting themselves to those who cannot save them.  Who is that stealthy swindler who has been watching us all the time, waiting for the moment to pounce on us?

“Kaun thagwaa nagariyaa lootal ho”

Kaal is ever ready to grab us...should we give in to Kaal?  In these trying times, brothers and sisters, let us reflect on this : Shall we leave our Guru and give in to the play of Kaal?
