THE COLOUR OF LOVE
Even during these difficult times when the whole world is fighting one common enemy, some people are still fighting among themselves. We hear about the rise of domestic violence, mass shooting, fights over territories, conflicts over religious affinities… At a time when people should be waking up to their real identity, they are still motivated by fake differences. And we keep blaming COVID-19….
“Apne mein rangi aapanpo jaanoun, jihi rangi jaani taahi koon maanoun”
To know my real ‘Self’ I surrender myself to that colour which constitutes my being. Satguru Kabir Saheb wants us to realise who we truly are. When we know who we are, we will find no difference between ourselves and other living beings. As many have found out that this is a time of self-reflection, we should not be giving in to those weaknesses which keep us away from each other. Social distancing does not mean that we should beware of each other.
“Abhi antari man rang samaana, log kahein Kabir bowraanaa”
People think I am mad when I am absorbed in myself. Self-introspection is not a sign of madness. Many people spend their time talking about others, finding fault in others, catching other people’s weaknesses, derogating others… And they think that is the right thing to do. This is why when these people find someone absorbed in themselves, they think he is crazy. It is only after we have been able to realise who we are that we are able to see everyone else just like us. Then there is no reason for conflicts.
“Rang naa chinhe moorakh loyi, jihi rang rahiyaa sab koyi”
Those people who are not able to see that the same colour is in everyone are foolish. The ego prevents us from seeing beyond differences. And these differences have all been created by the world. One of the biggest barriers to our self-realisation is the ego. This is why Satguru Kabir Saheb wants us to self-reflect and find that which is common in us all. The colour of the blood running in all of us is the same.
