How can one reach God who has no identifiable location? Religion may say that God is in Heaven, but where is heaven? Then religion also says that God dwells in the heart. Is the heart then the heaven where God is? But God is omnipresent. Are heaven and the heart omnipresent? Which method or practice of which religion takes you to God who is difficult to locate?
We are dealing with a conundrum! The American philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson, said that the there is no place where the soul ends and God begins. Satguru Kabir said, “ghat ghat mere sainyia, suni sej na koi”– God is in every heart, and no one is devoid of Him. After considering the above, what is the common pathway that would apply to all people of all religions? It has to be through the heart, or better yet, through Consciousness. Consciousness, in the mystical sense, is universal. God is also Universal Consciousness, or Cosmic Consciousness. Our path to God then is through our own consciousness that realizes its unity with God Consciousness.
Abiding by the above thoughts in mind would lead to universal brotherhood, religious harmony, interpersonal understanding and love for all humanity. Above all, it would lead to spiritual awakening and enlightenment! Let us all, therefore, strive for awakening and enlightenment!
